Diving Adds Britney Yancey

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Head diving coach Dr. Jeff Huber and the Indiana diving team announced the addition of Britney Yancey (Dallas, Texas/Bishop Lynch) for the 2006-07 academic year. She joins Brittney Feldman (Indianapolis, Ind./Broad Ripple) and Amy Korthauer (Naperville, Ill./Naperville Central) as new additions to the Hoosier women's diving program.
"We are lucky to have Britney be a member of our team next year," Huber said. "Besides being an outstanding diver, she is an outstanding person and she will make us a better team in both practice and competition. She has a very upbeat and positive attitude, and I look forward to coaching her for a long time."
A four-time All-American, Yancey comes to Indiana with a plethora of accolades and achievements as a prep diver. Yancey closed out her high school career with three state championships as well as a pair of national prep titles. The Dallas Morning News named her to its swimming and diving first team, while the same paper tabbed her as an athlete of the week in February of 2006. The two-time West National medalist also placed in the top 12 on both boards at the Junior Olympics. A member of the Mustangs in the Sun club team, Yancey represented the United States in the U.S./Canada Challenge in May of 2005.
"I chose Indiana because I really like the team and the coaches," Yancey said. "Indiana has a great reputation for its elite diving program. I also like the diverse education opportunities that IU offers, and am excited about training under Jeff Huber."
Away from the pool, Yancey excels in the classroom and in other extracurricular activities. She served as a member of the student leadership council and in the Inter-act club.
