Loukas Snares Silver at U.S. Open on 1m

INDIANAPOLIS - Sophomore Christina Loukas snared a silver medal on one-meter at the 2006 Speedo U.S. Open Championships in Indianapolis on April 20. Overall, the Hoosier accumulated 267.25 points en route to the runner-up finish behind Kelci Bryant's 271.00 tally.
The two-time Big Ten Diver of the Year and of the Championships remained consistent throughout her rounds before just missing the title when she nailed a reverse 1.5 somersault with 1.5 twists for a 62.40.
In other Hoosier-related action, incoming freshman Brittney Feldman missed finals by less than five points with a fourth-place total of 241.25 in the second set of semifinals. Diving in front of a home crowd in the Circle City, Feldman posted a pair of 52.00-point dives in the first and last rounds to bookend her semifinal effort.
Additionally, senior Heather Chapman placed fifth in semifinal competition on the tower with a 276.65 after hitting a reverse 2.5 somersault from a tuck position for 63.45 points, while Olympian Cassandra Cardinell placed seventh with a 270.70 during a string of dives that included a 67.50 tally from a forward 3.5 somersault from a pike position.
Next up, the men compete on the one-meter with Hoosier signee David Piercy throwing his hat in the ring, while the women's three-meter preliminary round gets underway on April 21.
