Hoosiers Announce 2006-07 Slate

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Indiana head coach Ray Looze announced the 2006-07 swimming and diving schedule on May 4. Six Big Ten battles as well as three invitationals highlight the new slate.
The Hoosiers open the season with the Cream vs. Crimson intrasquad meet on Sept. 29 at 3 p.m. at the Counsilman-Billingsley Aquatics Center. After several weeks off, Indiana then begins its regular season with the Kentucky Combine on Oct. 21 at 1 p.m., in Bloomington, before hosting Northwestern and Minnesota in a co-ed tri-meet at 4 p.m. on Oct. 27. IU closes the weekend with a co-ed dual meet against Arizona State at noon, on Oct. 28.
Indiana heads out on the road for the first time on Nov. 3-4 with a battle against the Texas Longhorns in Austin, Texas. The women compete both days, while the men go head-to-head on Nov. 4.
After a week off, the Hoosiers play host to the Indiana University Open Invitational from Nov. 17-19 before taking time off for the Thanksgiving Holiday. After the brief break, Indiana heads to West Lafayette, Ind., for the U.S. Open from Nov. 30-Dec. 2, before heading out on the annual training trip scheduled for Fort Myers, Fla., from Dec. 16-23.
After the winter holiday, IU travels to Columbus, Ohio for a co-ed dual against Ohio State at 1 p.m., on Jan. 6, before heading to Ann Arbor, Mich., for a round of duals against Illinois, Michigan and Notre Dame from Jan. 12-13. The women will compete at 6 p.m. on Jan. 12 and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., on Jan. 13, while the men will battle on Jan. 13 at 1 p.m.
The Hoosiers return home for Parents Weekend against Missouri on Jan. 19-20 in co-ed action to conclude the women's regular season, while the men finish their regular-season slate in West Lafayette, against Purdue on Jan. 27.
The postseason commences with the 2007 Big Ten Women's Swimming and Diving Championships in Ann Arbor, from Feb. 7-10, while the 2007 Big Ten Men's Swimming and Diving Championships take place in Columbus from Feb. 15-17.
After a pair of last chance invitiationals at the Counsilman-Billingsley Aquatics Center on Feb. 17 and Feb. 24, the men and women head to Minneapolis, Minn., for the 2007 NCAA Championships. The women's meet occurs from March 8-10, while the men compete from March 15-17.
Prior to the national meets, the divers will qualify for NCAAs at the NCAA Zone C Diving Championships from March 1-4 at a site to be determined.
