Lazaridis Becomes Two-Time All-American

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Indiana senior Laura Lazaridis earned second team Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association All-America recognition as announced by the CRCA on May 31. The All-Big Ten performer became the first rower in Hoosier history to snare back-to-back honors after being the first All-American in program lore.
"This is Laura's second time being named an All-American, and is more proof of just how good she is in this sport," Indiana head coach Steve Peterson said. "She has been a great representative of our young program, and is helping to put the Indiana name on the rowing map. She has been a great leader on our team, leading by example, and has shown everyone on the team that anything is possible if you work hard enough."
The awards, presented by Pocock, recognize the outstanding accomplishments of female rowers and coxswains for the spring season. Overall, 42 student-athletes garnered recognition with 20 snagging first team honors and 22 picking up second team kudos.
Next up, Lazaridis will attend the United States Under 23 Selection Camp in Berkeley, Calif., from June 5-29. From this group of athletes, the U.S. Under 23 National Team will be selected to race at the Under 23 World Championships this summer in Hazewinkel, Belgium from July 20-23.
