Distance Corps Competes at Charlotte UltraSwim

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Indiana University's distance corps returned to action at the Charlotte UltraSwim at the Mecklenburg County Aquatic Center in Charlotte, N.C., on June 8. The UltraSwim is the latest tune-up for this summer's United States Nationals in Irvine, Calif. That meet will serve as the selection competition for the Pan Pacific Championships and also will influence the selection of the U.S. squad for the 2007 World Champs in Melbourne.
For the men, rising sophomore John Kevin Koehler cleared the Junior National threshold with an eighth-place 16:14.27 in the 1,500 LCM freestyle, while rising freshman Steffan Troxel placed ninth with a Junior National cut of 16:17.07. Meanwhile, rising sophomore Alex Brunfeldt touched in 11th with a Junior National cut of 16:19.19.
On the women's side of the ledger, rising sophomore Christie Fuchs placed 52nd in the 800 LCM freestyle with a 9:31.50.
