With Indiana's rowing team in Tampa, Fla., for its annual winter training trip from Dec. 31-Jan.6, members of the team will be checking in with IUHOOSIERS.com each day to share how the trip is going. Below is senior Elaine Deppe's account from the road.
It's the last day of our Tampa training trip and it's finally sunny and warm. We dealt with some gloomy weather most of the week, but we really got a lot accomplished on this trip. For me, this is my last Tampa trip with the team. And out of all the years that I've been coming, this year was definitely the best. It was really exciting to see the improvements that everyone has made, both novice and varsity, and how competitive the team is with each other!
Now starts the beginning of our indoor training. We have about three months until we start spring racing, so we'll be doing a lot of work on the ergs until then. This trip has definitely set the tone of the team for the rest of the year. Every day, people have put their all in practice and it's going to be exciting to see how fast we get in the next couple of months!
Go Hoosiers!
