Rowing Signs 12 to National Letter of Intent

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Head Coach Steve Peterson announced today that twelve athletes have signed National Letters of Intent to continue their rowing careers at Indiana University. Anna Almquist (Atlanta, GA), Kelly Bainbridge (Cape May Court House, N.J.), Cara Donley (Alexandria, Va.), Amy Gartenberg (St. Louis, Mo.) , Sara Kavoosifar (Duluth, Ga.), Katelynn Maier (Linwood, N.J.), Stephanie Mowder (St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada), Jaclyn Reidel ( Shrewsbury, Mass.), Kasey Rudawsky (St. Louis, Mo.), Genevieve Savoie (Fairfax Station, Va.), Jennifer Schultz (Bethesda, Md.), and Shifumi Terasaka (Dublin, Ohio) will all join the Hoosier Rowing program beginning in 2008-09.
"I am extremely excited about this recruiting class," Head Coach Steve Peterson said. "Most coaches in our sport hope to sign an eight's worth of athletes each year; we were able to top that in just this first signing period. Not only is this class twice as large as any previous recruiting class we have had here at Indiana, it is also one of the most talented. Each of these athletes should have an immediate impact on the program and Iam looking forward to the opportunity to working with them in the future."
Anna Almquist (Atlanta, GA) attends The Lovett School and is currently stroking the Varsity 8+ for the Atlanta Junior Rowing Association.
Kelly Bainbridge (Cape May Court House, NJ) of Holy Spirit High School competed in the Varsity four last season and placed 9th overall at Nationals. Her experience includes a silver and gold at the ACRA Championships and a first place at New Jersey State Championships.
Cara Donley (Alexandria, VA) has been in the Varsity 8 for all four years as a member of the T.C. Williams High School Crew. She has won Freshmen of the year, Washington Post Honorable Mention All Met and the Old Dominion Boat Club Outstanding Oarswoman of the Year 2007.
Amy Gartenberg (St. Louis, MO) rows in the V8 the St. Louis Rowing Club and attends Whitfield School. Most recently her crew won the Head of the Hooch, they are looking to defend last season's national ranking with SLRC.
Sara Kavoosifar (Duluth, GA) coxswain for Atlanta Junior Rowing Association and has begun her third season of coxing. She attends Northview High School.
Katelynn Maier (Linwood, NJ) rows for Mainland High School. Kate has gone undefeated in the Varsity 8 and the 2V8 including two Stotesbury Cup wins and a gold and silver at Nationals.
Stephanie Mowder (St. Catharines, Ontario) will graduate from Dennis-Morris High School after attending Sir Winston Churchill Secondary School for her first three years of high school. Stephanie rows for St. Catharines Rowing Club and won two golds at the Canadian Henley in the 8+ and 4+.
Jaclyn Riedel (Shrewsbury, MA) is a member of the Shrewsbury High School Crew where she is team captain as a third year member of the Varsity Crew.
Kasey Rudawsky (Frontenac, MO) is the Varsity 8+ coxswain for St. Louis Rowing Club and is a senior at Villa Duchesne/Oak Hill School. She coxed SLRC to a top 6 finish at USRowing Youth Nationals in 2006-2007 season, beating powerhouse Cincinnati Juniors for the first time in 15 years.
Genevieve Savoie (Fairfax Station, VA) rows for Fairfax County Juniors and attends South County Secondary High School; this is the beginning of her third season after transitioning from soccer.
Jennifer Schultz (Bethesda, MD) of Georgetown Visitation has rowed for her school program as well as Potomac, Thompsons and Old Dominion Boat Clubs. She has been the recipient of the Coaches Award, won the National Capital Championship as a sophomore and is currently team captain.
Shifumi Terasaka (Dublin, OH) hails from Dublin Coffman High School and rows for her school crew. Her crew qualified for Junior Nationals in the spring of 2006 and was a member of the 2006 Junior National Development Team after two seasons of rowing.
