FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Senior Kiwan Lawson finished 10th in the long jump at the NCAA Indoor Championships, held at the Tyson Center in Fayetteville, Ark.
Lawson's best distance was 7.49 meters, which he did on his second jump. He fouled on his other two attempts of the day.
"Kiwan had some fouls that hurt him today," interim head men's track and field coach Wayne Pate said. "We're really proud of how well he has done this year in all of the events he has competed in for us, and we're looking forward to him competing in the outdoor season."
Lawson's best jump of the season was 7.75 meters, which he did at the Tyson Center on Feb. 10. He won the Big Ten championship in the event with a leap of 7.73 meters. Lawson was also a standout in the 200-meter dash for Indiana, finishing third at the Big Ten meet with a personal-best time of 21.39.
The Hoosiers continue at the NCAA Championships on Saturday, March 10. Junior Kyle Jenkins competes in the triple jump, while freshman Vera Neuenswander will contend in the pole vault.
