Hoosiers Seventh After First Day Of Lady Buckeye Invitational

COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Indiana University women's golf team opened the Lady Buckeye Invitational with a 36-hole total of 638 (317-321) on the first day of play. Leading the way for the Hoosiers was junior Elaine Harris, who is tied for 15th after the day with a total of 155 (78-77).
"Obviously, we are a bit disappointed with our performance today," head coach Clint Wallman said. "We did a lot of good things, but there are definitely areas that we can improve on. We will regroup tomorrow and post some good numbers to head into the Big Ten Tournament with some momentum."
Following Harris were freshmen Laura Nochta (83-78) and Anita Gahir (79-82), who are tied for 33rd after the first day of play with totals of 161. Junior Lauren Harling is tied for 42nd after carding a 163 (79-84) on the day, and sophomore Amber Lindgren wrapped up the day with a share of 60th. Rounding out the IU lineup is senior Kendal Hake, who is also tied for 60th at 168 after carding rounds of 82 and 86 on the day.
Purdue leads the tournament with a total of 593 (298-295) and is followed by Michigan State at 604 (301-303). Kent State stands in third place after the first day with a team total of 619 (314-305), while Iowa stands in fourth at 626 (314-312). Host Ohio State rounds out the top-five with a total of 630 (324-306). Christel Boeljon (71-71) and Maria Hernandez (72-70) of Purdue are leading the tournament with totals of 142 after the opening two rounds.
The Hoosiers will close out the Lady Buckeye Invitational on Sunday, April 22. The shotgun start for the final round will begin at 8:30 a.m. EDT.
