Cardinell Finishes Third on Platform at Spring National Championships

BOYDS, Md. - Indiana alumna Cassandra Cardinell finished third in the 10-meter platform at the Speedo USA Diving Spring Nationals at the Germantown Indoor Swim Center on Saturday, April 21.
Cardinell, the 2005 NCAA champion in the event, posted 344.75 points to take third on Saturday. She finished in the top seven in each round, with a pair of dives good for third in their respective rounds. Cardinell's inward three-and-a-half somersault tuck took third in the third round with 73.60 points, while her back three-and-a-half somersault tuck earned 64.35 points for third in the fourth round.
She capped her day with a score of 76.50 for her back two-and-a-half somersault one-and-a-half twist pike, good four fourth place.
The Spring Nationals conclude on Sunday, April 22, with the finals of the three-meter. Indiana junior Christina Loukas and freshman Brittney Feldman will compete in the event.
