
Coover Leads Indiana in Day Two of the Drake Relays

DES MOINES, Iowa - Sophomore Jeff Coover led the Hoosiers in the pole vault with a clearance of 4.90 meters for eighth place as the Indiana track and field team competed in day two of the historic Drake Relays at Drake Stadium in Des Moines, Iowa, on Friday, April 27.
Senior Kiwan Lawson finished 11th in the long jump with a mark of 7.23 meters.
Freshman Eric Werskey also competed for IU and finished 13th with a toss of 16.44 meters in the shot put. Freshman Patrick Dalton recorded a mark of 15.45 meters in the same event for 22nd place, and sophomore Greg Brown used a toss of 14.80 meters to finish 23rd.
Junior Keith Heerdegen placed 21st overall in the 100-meter dash with at time of 10.83, while classmate Marcus Thigpen ran a 10.97 for 26th place. Freshman Chris Sackmann ran a time of 14.81 in the preliminaries of the 110-meter hurdles to finish 29th.
The men's 4x200-meter relay team placed ninth with a time of 1:26.99, while the 4x400-meter relay team clocked a time of 3:11.13 for 15th place.
