DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - The Indiana women's golf team wrapped up the second round of the NCAA Championship with a team total of 637 (320-317) on Wednesday, May 23. The Hoosiers are in 24th place at the event.
"The golf course played a little tougher today with the wind, but we did some good things," head coach Clint Wallman said. "Kellye (Belcher) really rebounded today. She could have packed it in and given up, but she didn't. We just need to minimize our big mistakes. When we have made mistakes, they have been costly."
Leading the Hoosiers is freshman Kellye Belcher, who carded a 3-over 75 on Wednesday to go along with a 84 in the first round for a two-day total of 159. In the second round, Belcher closed out the front nine with three birdies on her final four holes to wrap up the nine with a 1-over 37. After struggling to open the back nine, Belcher carded birdies on the 14th, 15th and 16th holes to close out the day with a 2-over 38 for her total of 75.

Just one stroke behind her teammates with a two-day total of 160 is freshman Anita Gahir. After opening the round with a birdie on the first hole, Gahir recorded three bogies on the front nine for a 2-over 38. After carding a double-bogey on the 10th hole, Gahir recorded three bogies to go along with five pars on the back nine for a 5-over 41 for a total of 79. She had an 81 in the first round on Tuesday and is tied for 98th.
Following Gahir is fellow freshman Laura Nochta, who has a two-round total of 164. After a 79 in the first round, Nochta struggled to a 13-over-par 85 on Wednesday and a placement in a tie for 115th.
