Basketball Development Center

It can be argued that no other sport is as beloved by Hoosiers as basketball. IU's legacy of hoops excellence includes five national men's championships, 20 Big Ten men's championships, a Big Ten women's championship and countless other accolades. IU's elite reputation has made it a top choice for many young basketball players. Today, however, the programs' cramped, aging training and development facilities have made it more difficult to recruit the most promising student athletes. Currently, both the men's and women's squads must share a single practice/competition court and their strength training facilities with 18 other sports.

"A facility like this provides us with the opportunity to compete with the top programs in the Big Ten and across the country."
IU Women's Basketball Head Coach Felisha Legette-Jack

The new Basketball Development Center, located in close proximity to Assembly Hall, will serve as the daily headquarters for the men's and women's basketball programs, providing them with a state-of-the-art venue in which to practice, train and condition. The 67,000-square-foot, multilevel facility features practice courts, locker rooms, coaches' offices and meeting/video rooms. HOK Sport of Kansas City, assisted by Moody-Nolan of Indianapolis, is responsible for architectural planning and design of the new facility. Scheduled for completion in September 2008, the Center will place IU at the forefront of collegiate basketball facilities.
