Hoosiers Hit the Pool at International Meet in Japan

CHIBA, Japan - The Japan International Swim meet got underway today in at the Chiba International General Swimming Center in Chiba, Japan with four Indiana swimmers among the U.S. National Team contingent.
First among the IU crew to hit the water was sophomore Ashley Jones (Joliet, Ill./Minooka Community). Jones finished fourth in the B final of the 400 individual medley with a time of 4:49.14. She finished 12th in the preliminaries, clocking in at 4:49.92.
The USA men's 400-meter free relay team featured senior Todd Patrick (Chesterfield, Mo./Marquette) swimming the second leg. The squad took fourth with a time of 3:19.41.
All four Indiana swimmers will be in action tomorrow on day two of the four-day meet. Senior Ben Hesen (Jeffersonville, Ind./Jeffersonville) will swim the 100 backstroke, as will Presley Bard (Napa, Calif./Napa) and Jones on the women's side. Patrick will take to the pool in the 100 free.
