Hesen, Bard Among Top Competitors at Japan International

CHIBA, Japan - Day two of the Japan International Swim Meet saw Indiana swimmers Ben Hesen (Jeffersonville, Ind./Jeffersonville) and Presley Bard (Napa, Calif./Napa) finish among the top competitors at the Chiba International General Swimming Center in Chiba, Japan.
Hesen finished first the 100-meter backstroke "B" final with a time of 54.27. Earlier in the day he was sixth overall and third in his heat in the preliminaries, clocking in at 54.64. In the women's 100 backstroke, Bard was also victorious in the "B" final at 1:01.32. Her preliminary time of 1:01.42 placed her fourth in her heat and seventh overall.
Also competing in the 100-meter backstroke was Ashley Jones (Joliet, Ill./Minooka Community) who finished 24th in the preliminaries (1:04.17). Todd Patrick (Chesterfield, Mo./Marquette) represented the USA in the 100-meter freestyle, coming in 27th in the preliminaries (51.17).
On Thursday, Hesen, Bard and Jones will all be back in the pool, competing in the 200-meter backstroke. The meet runs through Friday.
