CHIBA, Japan - Todd Patrick (Chesterfield, Mo./Marquette) added to the USA medal count with a silver in the 200-meter individual medley on the final day of the Japan International Swim Meet at the Chiba International General Swimming Center in Chiba, Japan.
Patrick's time of 2:00.59 is a new school record, topping his previous mark of 2:02.95 set earlier this month at the ConocoPhillips U.S. National Championships. It was the second time on the day he had broken the school mark after posting a time of 2:01.37 to finish second in the prelims. Patrick's time puts him at 17th in the world.
In the men's 100-meter butterfly, Ben Hesen (Jeffersonville, Ind./Jeffersonville) placed fifth in the "B" final with a time of 53.79. That mark is a personal best and just 8/100ths of a second off the school record.
Also hitting the pool on the final day of competition was Ashley Jones (Joliet, Ill./Minooka Community). Jones was 24th in the women's 200-meter individual medley preliminaries with a school-record time of 2:19.30.
