Senior Lauren Ditteon stuffed the stat sheet with 12 kills, 12 digs, eight blocks, two assists and a service ace. Freshman Ashley Benson had her second superb performance in a row with 14 kills and six blocks.
Indiana was a bit sluggish to start things off, dropping games one and two by the score of 30-26. The Hoosiers picked up the pace in game three, however, jumping out to a 15-9 lead on a kill by Junior Erica Short. The lead slowly dwindled away as the Gamecocks eventually took a 29-30 lead. Staring match point in the face, Freshman Taylor Wittmer connected on a kill to even the score at 30-30. A pair of JSU errors followed to hand IU the 32-30 win.
Game four was tight in the early goings, but Indiana put together several runs to grab a hold of the lead at 12-11 and never let go. Senior Annie Moddrell's four blocks and the Hoosiers' six team blocks stymied the Jacksonville offense in game four, forcing a -.075 hitting efficiency for the Gamecocks. Ditteon swatted back-to-back kills for the final two points of the game, forcing a fifth and final game.
A rejuvenated Hoosier offense exploded in game five, hitting .533 en route to the 15-8 clincher. Short was unstoppable, recording four kills on four swings. The Orrville, Ohio native also added two digs in the fifth game to her match total of 15 digs. Benson and Ditteon combined for a block that gave IU an 8-7 edge when the teams swapped sides. Wittmer then added to the Hoosier lead with a pair of kills. Shortly later, two terminations by Short resulted in points 13 and 14 before a JSU attack error sealed the come-from-behind triumph for the Cream and Crimson
