KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - Indiana recorded seven NCAA provisional marks and five first-place finishes but it was not enough as the Hoosiers (1-5) fell to No. 9 Tennessee (5-1) by a 172-128 score Friday afternoon in Knoxville, Tenn.
"I am really proud of them." said head swimming coach Ray Looze. " We we toe-to-toe with one of the top teams in the country for about 80 percent of the meet. We lost a couple of close races and that proved to be the difference. We were right there in it for much of the meet and it was closer than the score might indicate."
Diver Brittney Feldman started things off strong with a win in the 1-meter springboard, tallying 309.23 points, her third-highest point total this season. Jade Summerlin placed fifth (251.85), followed by Ashley Greene (251.63). Greene came back to lead IU with a second-place finish in the 3-meter springboard, recording yet another season best with a score of 281.18, the fifth-best score by an Indiana diver this year. "Everone did a great job today," said assistant diving coach Todd Waikel. "All in all I thought it was a strong performance and it shows we are really starting to come around."
