Kate Zubkova Named Big Ten Swimmer of the Week

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - After posting four first-place finishes in a dominating dual meet victory over Kentucky, Indiana junior Kate Zubkova is the Big Ten Swimmer of the Week, the conference office announced Tuesday.
The reigning Big Ten champion in the 100 and 200 backstroke, Zubkova picked right up where she left off by taking first in both events against the Wildcats. Zubkova touched the wall in 1:59.10 in the 200, while here time of 54.74 in the 100 back is an NCAA B cut.
Zubkova also swam the 200 individual medley where she outdistanced herself from the competition with a time of 2:05.20. She swam the lead-off leg of the 200 medley relay team which posted a winning time of 1:42.08.
Indiana is back in action this Friday as it opens its conference dual meet season against the Northwestern Wildcats at the Counsilman-Billingsley Aquatics Center at 3 p.m.
