BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Indiana Rowing continues the fall season with the Princeton 3-Mile Chase, an Invitational Regatta at Lake Carnegie in Princeton, N.J., on Sunday, Oct. 26.
The Princeton 3-Mile Chase, an elite regatta of the fall, is an invitational head-race hosted by the Princeton University crew coaching staff for men and women collegiate crew, including novice for the first time in the event's history. The Princeton 3-Mile Chase regatta is composed of races for Lightweight Women, Open Women, Lightweight Men, Heavyweight Men and a small boats event competing over a distance of 2 ¾ miles.
IU's Varsity 8 will compete in the women's open 8 at 12 p.m. ET. The Hoosiers' crew will be comprised of senior coxswain Madison Spruell, junior stroke Molly Sinks, sophomore Mary Kate Murphy, senior Ashley Johnson, senior Jamie Spoto, senior Laura Fuhrmann, junior Emily Kasavana, senior Jen Maslanka and senior bow Kelsey Kapral.
This year's race will feature last year's National Champion Yale, Brown (bronze medalist), Virginia (8th) and Princeton (12th).
"Obviously, this is a really great race with a lot of top teams from last year's NCAA Championships," Indiana head coach Steve Peterson said. "It will be great for our student-athletes to race against some very good programs that we don't normally get to race against. This past week, we have really been working on our race pace and rhythm, and I feel if the student-athletes settle right into the rhythm they have been working on all week, we should have a really solid performance."
Following Sunday's regatta, the Hoosiers will travel to Chicago on Sunday, Nov. 2 to compete in the Southland Regatta.
