SETTING THE SCENE
• Indiana takes a break from conference action as it travels north to face in-state foe Butler on Tuesday night.
• Indiana has won four of its last six matches but is looking to bounce back from a 1-0 loss to Michigan on Saturday night.
• The Hoosiers have won four straight in the series with Butler.
• IU's only loss to BU came in 1995, a 1-0 victory for the Bulldogs in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
NEWS AND NOTES
• Indiana will be without the services of midfielder Brad Ring against Butler as he must sit out the match after receiving his fifth yellow card of the season in the game against Michigan.
• The loss to Michigan on Oct. 4 snapped an eight match unbeaten streak in Big Ten play.
• Freshman Will Bruin became the first Hoosier to score multiple goals in a match in a 3-2 overtime win at Evansville on Sept. 30. Bruin also recorded his first game-winning goal.
• Indiana is 2-0-2 in overtime matches this season.
• Indiana is 3-0 when scoring three or more goals.
• Indiana is 5-0 when scoring first.
• Indiana has out-shot its opponents in all 10 matches this season, including a 20-9 advantage over Michigan on Oct. 4.
• With a 3-2 overtime win over Wisconsin on Sept. 21, Indiana is now 15-0-3 in Big Ten openers.
• Indiana has already given more goals in two Big Ten game this year (three) as it did in all six Big Ten games in 2007 (two).

SCOUTING THE BULLDOGS
• Butler enters the match with a record of 7-1-2, most recently recording a 2-1 overtime victory over Valparaiso in Indianapolis.
• The Bulldogs are led offensively by Frank Patano who has 19 points with nine goals and one assist.
• Kyle Pateros has also started all 10 matches with five goals and one assist.
• Nick Hegeman has started seven matches in goal and is 5-0-2, allowing six goals in 676:44 minutes for a 0.80 GAA.
• Butler has outscored its opponents 20-9 this season.
• Butler is 2-0 at home this season.
• This is the Bulldogs' only meeting with a Big Ten opponent this season.
• Head coach Kelly Findley is in his third season at Butler and enters the game with a record of 23-19-8. He is assisted by David Costa, Michael Rivas and Miles Glynn.

• Indiana leads the all-time series, 17-1-1. The series began in 1991 with a 5-0 Indiana victory in Indianapolis.

BIG TEN ... BIG TIME
• The Big Ten currently has four teams ranked in the latest College Soccer News top 30 poll.
• Northwestern (9-0-2) leads the way at No. 3, followed by Michigan (8-2-2) at No. 17.
• Ohio State (7-2-1) is ranked 20th, followed by the Hoosiers in 22nd.
• According to Soccer America, Northwestern is No. 5, followed by No. 13 Michigan, No. 16 Ohio State and No. 23 Indiana.
• Soccer Times also has all four teams ranked with No. 3 Northwestern, No. 15 Ohio State, No. 19 Indiana and No. 20 Michigan.
WAKE UP!
• The Hoosiers have admittedly gotten off to slow starts in matches this season and a look at the statistics backs up that claim.
• Indiana has been outscored 6-2 in the first period. The Hoosiers' lone first-half goals have come against San Diego (2-1 win) and Wisconsin (3-2 OT win).
• IU had perked up in the second half where 10 of its 14 goals have been scored. The Hoosiers have also had two game-winning scores in the first overtime period.
BRUIN ON FIRE
• Highly-touted freshman Will Bruin has caught fire as of late, scoring two goals against Evansville on Sept. 30, including the game-winning strike in overtime.
• Bruin leads the team with four goals overall, and three of those four goals have come in the last four matches.
• Out of his 33 shots, Bruin has put 17 on frame for a .515 shots on-goal percentage, second best on the team.
HOME, SWEET HOME?
• Indiana is 2-2-1 this season in the normally friendly confines of Jerry Yeagley Field at Armstrong Stadium.
• Indiana has lost back-to-back home matches for the first time since 2000.
• That year the Hoosiers opened the season with losses to Portland and UCLA but went on to advance to the NCAA College Cup.
SEVEN HOOSIERS ON NCAA COLLEGE CUP 50TH ANNIVERSARY TEAM BALLOT
• Six former Indiana men's soccer players and former head coach Jerry Yeagley are part of the ballot for the NCAA Men's College Cup 50th Anniversary Team, the NCAA announced Monday.
• A total of 32 players and six coaches are included on the voting ballot, which can be found on NCAA.com. Fans will have the chance to select the 11 best student-athletes and one coach through the last 50 years of the championship.
• Indiana's student-athlete representatives are Armando Betancourt, Angelo DiBernardo, Dema Kovalenko, Brian Maisonneuve, Pat Noonan and Ken Snow. Voting for the NCAA Division I Men's Soccer 50th Anniversary team began on Oct. 6 and will run until noon on Oct. 15. Individual fans only will be able to submit one vote.
E.A. GETS IN THE GAME
• Junior midfielder Eric Alexander proved to be the difference in Indiana's 3-2 OT win over Wisconsin on Sept. 21.
• It marked the second goal in three matches for Alexander after he scored in a 3-0 win at UCLA on Sept. 12.
• Prior to the UCLA match, Alexander had not found the back of the net since a 4-0 win at Kentucky on Oct. 31, 2007.
• Alexander has not wasted his on-goal attempts. With four shots on-goal to his credit, he has put two in the back of the net.
• Alexander is coming off his best season for the Hoosiers, scoring five goals and adding an assist in 2007 to earn unanimous All-Big Ten honors.

RANKING THE HOOSIERS
• The Hoosiers dropped three spots to No. 19 in the Soccer Times poll.
• Soccer America puts the Hoosiers in the No. 23 spot, six places lower than last week's ranking.
• Indiana fell to No. 22 in the latest College Soccer News rankings.
• For the first time this season, Indiana is not ranked the NSCAA/adidas poll.
BIG TEN DOMINATION
• Since the Big Ten began sponsoring men's soccer in 1991, the Hoosier have dominated the league.
• The Hoosiers are 78-8-9 in regular season matches, tallying nearly 30 more victories than second-place team Penn State (50).
• Indiana has never lost in its Big Ten opener, going 15-0-3 in those matches.
• IU has won 11 Big Ten tournament titles, sharing the 1995 crown with Wisconsin.
• Indiana has also been crowned regular season champion 13 times, including nine-straight seasons from 1996-2004. IU has now won back-to-back regular season titles in 2006 and 2007.
• Indiana has been the league's goals-against average leader in 15 of 17 seasons, including 2007 when the Hoosiers allowed just two goals in six matches for a 0.31 GAA.
• IU has had a league-record 10 Big Ten Players of the Year, including two of the last three seasons.
• The Hoosiers have also boasted the Freshman of the Year two of the last three years.
ANOTHER CLEAN SHEET
• Senior goalkeeper Chay Cain recorded his 23rd career solo shutout on
Sept. 12 when the Hoosiers posted a 3-0 victory at UCLA.
• It was his third shutout of the season (Akron, South Florida).
• Cain recorded 10 shutouts in 2006 and added another 10 in 2007.
• Cain ranks seventh on IU's career shutout list, ninth in saves (165) and ninth in career wins (30).
SCORING DEPTH
• When it comes to scoring threats Indiana's opponents can't just focus on one or two players as the Hoosiers' 14 goals have come from nine different players.
• Freshman Will Bruin has a team-best four scores, while sophomore Andy Adlard and junior Eric Alexander also have multiple goals with two each.
•Indiana also showed its depth during the preseason as the six goals were scored by six different players.
• Adlard, John Mellencamp and Michael Roach came with the scores against the Tulsa Golden Hurricanes in a 3-1 win.
• In the 3-0 win over North Carolina, it was Neil Wilmarth, Brian Ackley and Kevin Noschang putting the ball in the net.
TIME CHANGE
•Indiana's match against Northwestern on Friday, Nov. 7 has been moved to a 6:30 p.m. ET start time to accommodate the Big Ten Network live broadcast. That is a half hour later than the previous time of 6 p.m. ET.
