BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Logan Kline (Mission Hills, Kan.) and Norah Cetin (Champaign, Ill.) will join the Indiana women's diving program beginning in the fall of 2009, head coach Dr. Jeff Huber announced today.
Cetin hails from Centennial High School where she was a three-time IHSA state finalist, finishing seventh as a junior and eighth in 2008. She helped lead her team to three straight conference titles and sectional championships in 2007 and 2008. She holds records at six different pools in the conference and was named Most Valuable Diver in 2007 and 2008. She was an All-American for the 2006-07 school year.
"I am really excited that Norah has chosen Indiana University and the IU diving program," Huber said. "She had other choices and we are really lucky to have her be a part of the team next year. She is a strong athlete with a great deal of potential and I feel her best diving is ahead of her. She is a good student and good role model and will add a great deal to our team as not only an athlete, but also as a student and team leader."
In addition to her work in the pool, Cetin is a standout in the classroom, earning conference scholar-athlete, IHSA Scholar Athlete and National Honor Society member.
Kline is the 2008 Kansas state champion out of Shawnee Mission East High School. A three-time All-American, she was the state runner-up in 2006 and 2007 and holds the league scoring record of 501 points. At the national level she placed fourth in the three-meter synchronized event at the 2006 Kaiser Permanente Senior Nationals and was a 2007 Spring Nationals semifinalist on the one-meter and three-meter springboard. That year she was also the one-meter champion at the Junior West National Championships.
"I am very excited that Logan is coming to IU next year," Huber. "We have had some great female divers the past 8-10 years and Logan will help us continue that tradition. Besides being an outstanding athlete, she is also an outstanding student. I can't wait to get started coaching her."
Kline is also a member of the National Honor Society and dives year-round with the Jayhawk Diving Club.
The 2008-09 Indiana diving squad is off to a strong start, including pool records from Landon Marzullo (Counsilman-Billingsley Aquatic Center) and Christina Loukas (McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion- Columbus, Ohio). The Hoosiers return to action Jan. 9-10 with the women facing Michigan, Illinois and Tennessee, and the men taking on Michigan and Tennessee at the Counsilman-Billingsley Aquatic Center.
