Indiana Trounces Mercyhurst, 16-6 To Advance To Championship Game

GROVE CITY, Pa. - The Indiana women's water polo team advanced to the finals of the CWPA Western Division Championships with a convincing 16-6 win over Mercyhurst on Saturday afternoon.
The Hoosiers, who are the no. 2 seed at the tournament, got four goals from Maggie Hannon and Nicole Redder and Brooke Zimmerman scored three goals to pace an Indiana attack that has now scored 127 goals in its last eight games. Hannon now has 54 goals scored on the year and has scored at least four goals in each of the last three games for Indiana.
Lauren Wyckoff added a pair of goals and Kelly Palmberg and Brittany Estrada both found the back of the goal once.
Zimmerman also had three assists, giving her 50 helpers on the season, just two shy of her own single-season record. Kelsey Campbell added three assists as well to go along with four steals.
In goal for the Hoosiers, Katie Carson got the start and made six saves in a half of play before being replaced by Jackie Pyrz. The senior from Harleysville, Pa., made five saves in her 16 minutes of work in the win.
The final match will feature the top two teams in the Western Division during the season, when No. 1 Michigan battles the Hoosiers at 7:30 p.m. at Grove City Collge.
