Loukas Defends 1-Meter Title at Diving National Championships

PASADENA, Calif. - Indiana University senior Christina Loukas successfully defended her one-meter springboard title at the 2008 Kaiser Permanente National Diving Championships being held at the Rose Bowl Aquatic Center in Pasadena, Calif.
Loukas posted a score of 264.80 in the final round, beating out synchro partner Amanda Miller by just over five points. A member of the U.S. Olympic Team on the three-meter springboard, Loukas also placed first in the prelims with a total of 244.40 points. Former Indiana divers Cassandra Cardinell and Lindsay Weigle were also top-10 finishers with Cardinell fifth (241.20) and Weigle seventh (233.75).
Junior Brittney Feldman competed in the preliminary round, where she finished 21st (189.75). She was followed by incoming freshman Gabriella Agostino (26th- 181.10) and junior Amy Korthauer (29th- 168.55).
The men's competition took place on the three-meter springboard with sophomore Landon Marzullo in fourth place entering the finals. Marzullo tallied a score of 384.20 in the semifinals to advance, while recent graduate Taylor Roberts also made his way to the final round with a score of 373.30 (sixth). Sophomore Kris Hill was 23rd in the prelims (297.90).
