Loukas Advances to Semifinals of Women's Three-Meter Springboard

BEIJING - Indiana University senior Christina Loukas ' Olympic dream continues as she advanced to the semifinals of the women's three-meter springboard with an eighth-place finish in preliminary round Friday afternoon at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing China.
Loukas and teammate Nancilea Foster, who finished 11th with a score of 300.15, will compete Saturday in the semifinals at the National Aquatic Center.
Loukas totaled 312.60 points, highlighted by a 70.50-point effort on her back 2 ½ pike in the third round. China's Guo Jingjing, the 2004 gold medalist on three-meter, led the preliminaries with 373.90 points, followed by Russia's Julia Pakhalina, the 2004 bronze medalist, at 358.15 and Canada's Blythe Hartley at 350.60. Athens silver medalist Wu Minxia of China finished the prelims in fourth place with 349.45 points.
