Hoosiers Finish Fifth at Cardinal Intercollegiate

SIMPSONVILLE, Ky. - The Indiana University men's golf team finished in fifth place out of 15 teams at the Cardinal Intercollegiate, hosted by the University of Louisville. The Hoosiers shot a three-round total of 848 (-16).
Alex Martin was Indiana's top performer for the second consecutive event after sharing medalist honors and leading the Hoosiers to a second place finish at the Olympia Fields/Fighting Illini Invitational. Down in Kentucky, Martin notched another top-10 finish, coming in to the clubhouse with a share of seventh place at seven-under. Jorge Campillo joined Martin in the top-10 by carding a six-under 210 to tie for ninth. Fellow senior Seth Brandon recorded a team-high 13 birdies en route to carding a three-under 213 (T18th).
Drew Allenspach closed out strong, shooting a 70 on Tuesday. The 2008 Academic All-American completed the weekend at six-over and in a tie for 32nd place. Chase Wright rounded out the Hoosier line-up, recording a total score of 222. David Erdy also competed for the Cream and Crimson, playing as an individual. He fired a 68 in his final round and ended the tournament in a tie for 24th place.
