BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Head Coach Duane Goldman has completed his 2009-10 schedule; and his Hoosiers are slated for a competitive docket that sends them across the country. Indiana returns seven former NCAA qualifiers this season, including three-time All-American and '08 National Champion Angel Escobedo.
The party gets started on Oct. 27 with the Cream and Crimson intrasquad scrimmage. Indiana's first chance to grapple with someone not wearing Cream and Crimson is at the season-opening Michigan State Open on Nov. 15. Indiana' first dual match comes just two days later as the Hoosiers make the short trip to Crawfordsville, Ind., to take on Wabash for the third consecutive season.
Indiana returns to Bloomington for the Hoosier Duals on Nov. 28 inside University Gym. The Hoosiers are set to face five teams that day, including: Chattanooga, the University of the Cumberlands, Liberty, Northern Illinois and South Dakota State.
Out west in Las Vegas, Nev., will be the Hoosiers next destination, competing in the Las Vegas Open (Dec. 4-5) once again this season. Indiana remains on the road for the remainder of the month, wrestling at the F.I.T.E. Duals (Dec. 12) in Illinois, the Southern Scuffle (Dec. 29-30) in Greensboro, N.C., and heading to Morgantown, W.Va., for a non-conference dual with the Mountaineers of West Virginia on Jan. 2.
IU Wrestling opens the doors to University Gym again on Jan. 16 for the Indiana Duals, concluding the non-conference schedule with duals versus American and Cleveland State.
The Big Ten schedule then runs from Jan. 22 through Feb. 21. Indiana will host home duals versus Illinois, Ohio State, Minnesota and Michigan. The Minnesota match will take place at Bloomington High School South on Feb. 6.
Postseason action starts at the Big Ten Championships (Mar. 6-7) and ends with the NCAA Championships in Omaha, Neb., from Mar. 18-20).
