BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Indiana University wrestling coaching staff is offering a FREE Coaches Clinic on Saturday, Nov. 7 at University Gym, located on the corner of 10th St. and the 45/46 Bypass. The clinic is scheduled to run from 9 a.m.-Noon.
Hours one and two will consist of techniques, training and strategies; to be followed by an official IU team practice from 11 a.m.-Noon.
The Hoosier coaching staff includes Head Coach Duane Goldman, assistant coaches Pat DeGain and Joe Dubuque, and volunteer assistant Andrae Hernandez.
Goldman was a four-time NCAA Finalist, four-time Big Ten Champion and winner of the 1986 190-lbs. National Championship. The former Hawkeye was inducted in the University of Iowa Hall of Fame on Sept. 5, 2009. His flawless 36-0 record in '86 set Iowa record for best winning percentage in a year. Goldman can also be found in the school record books for career wins total, racking up 132 victories in his time as a Hawkeye.
Goldman tallied two Midlands titles and was selected to compete in the National All-Star Dual on three occasions. Internationally, he captured a gold medal at the 1987 Pan-American Championships.
Since taking over the Indiana wrestling program, Goldman has led the Hoosiers to unprecedented success in the modern era. He enters his 18th season as IU's head coach in 2009, and his 216 career coaching victories are the most ever at Indiana. Twenty-three Hoosiers have earned All-American status under the tutelage of Coach Goldman, including three National Champions.
DeGain and Dubuque are each former Hoosiers. DeGain was an NCAA All-American and Big Ten finalist while Dubuque brought home back-to-back NCAA Championships in 2005 and 2006. Dubuque was a three-time All-American. Hernandez recently ended his Hoosier career last season after a very successful four years donning the Cream and Crimson. The Griffith, Ind., native also reached the All-American stand and was a Big Ten Finalist.
If you are interested in attending the FREE IU Wrestling Coaches Clinic, please email Duane Goldman (dlgoldma@indiana.edu). Contact Coach Goldman before Oct. 29 if you plan to come, and he will submit your name for a free pass to the IU/Wisconsin football game that day.
