Hoosiers Compete in Scrimmage at Notre Dame

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Indiana rowing team competed in a scrimmage at Notre Dame on Oct. 31-Nov. 1, battling tough competition in the host Irish, Iowa and Michigan State in 3-mile head races on the St. Joe River.
On Saturday, the Hoosiers had four Varsity 4 crews race Notre Dame and Iowa, with their `B' crew placing fifth overall with a time of 15:11.0, edging Iowa (15:15.5). IU's `C' crew placed seventh overall with a time of 15:16.1, while its `A' crew was just behind at 15:16.1 for eighth place overall, beating Iowa's `B' crew (15:20.9) and Notre Dame's `B' (15:23.9) and `A' boats (15:24.7).
On Sunday, Indiana's `B' Novice 8 finished with a time of 15:02.6, beating out Michigan State's `B' crew, who crossed the finish line in 15:02.8, as well as Notre Dame (15:14.9) and MSU's `C' crew (15:24.3). IU's `A' Novice 8 boat finished second in 13:46.9, topping Michigan State's `A' crew (13:52.2) and Notre Dame's `A' crew (14:31.4).
The Hoosier's `A' Varsity 4 boat recorded a time of 15:11.8 in the first race of the day to place fourth. IU also had its `B' crew in a second Varsity 4 flight, finishing in fourth with a time of 15:56.0. Indiana's `A' Varsity 8 crew crossed the finish line in 13:09.9, just missing Notre Dame (13:05.9) to take fourth in the final race of the day.
Indiana returns to action on Sunday, Nov. 15 when it scrimmages Ohio State and Michigan State in Columbus, Ohio.
