Balchan, Bruin Named To All-Great Lakes Region Team

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Indiana University junior defender Rich Balchan and sophomore forward Will Bruin were named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America Great Lakes All Region Team, the organization announced. Both Balchan and Bruin were named to the third team.
Balchan started all 22 matches played in 2009, earning second-team All-Big Ten honors. Spending time at both defender and defensive midfielder, Balchan was named defensive MVP of the Mike Berticelli Memorial Tournament in September as the Hoosiers posted victories over New Mexico and Seattle. Balchan assisted on Andy Adlard's second score in a 3-0 win over Kentucky, and was part of eight Indiana shutouts.
Bruin was a first-team All-Big Ten selection in 2009 after leading the Hoosiers in goals scored (9) and total points (22). Bruin started 22 matches, with game-winning goals against Seattle, Florida International, Wisconsin (twice) and Butler. He recorded his second career multiple-goal match with two scores in a 2-1 win over FIU in September.
