#18 Indiana Tripped Up by #12 Golden Gophers

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - The #18 Indiana University wrestling team concluded their regular season on Sunday with a 22-13 setback to #12 Minnesota. The Hoosiers won four individual bouts on the day.
Angel Escobedo scored the first team points of the match, putting three of them up on the scoreboard for the Hoosiers after his 8-7 decision over No. 4 Zach Sanders. Escobedo finished the conference slate with a 6-2 mark in Big Ten matches.
At 149 lbs., Nick Walpole notched the second IU win, blanking Joe Grygelko, 2-0. The shutout trimmed the Hoosier deficit to three points at 9-6. Following a decision for Iowa at 157 pounds, the tandem of Paul Young and Trevor Perry put the Cream and Crimson ahead with three bouts to go.
Young outscored Scott Glasser by 10 points, dominating in a 14-4 major decision. Perry then defeated Kaleb Young, 7-6, giving Indiana a 13-12 lead on the team scoreboard. The Golden Gophers would go on to take the final three bouts though, completing their 22-13 victory.

Indiana now gets a two-week break from competition as they prepare for the Big Ten Championships, which will be held March 7-8 at the Bryce Jordan Center in State College, Pa.
