BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - On Saturday, March 21, Indiana Women's Rowing will participate in a scrimmage with Clemson University, Purdue University, and Marist College, the culmination of an intense week of training in Clemson, S.C.
The Hoosiers arrived in Clemson on Saturday, March 14, and have been practicing twice a day in preparation for the upcoming season. Head coach Steve Peterson has been happy with the training trip thus far.
"The weather has been great and we have been getting in a ton of mileage and good work," said Peterson.
On Saturday, IU's week of work will be put to the test when the Hoosiers tangle with the 13th-ranked Clemson Tigers, Purdue, and Marist in a series of three 1,500-meter race pieces.
Although the week has been dedicated to gaining speed and honing skills on the water, the Hoosiers took a time out on Thursday, March 19, to say "thank you" to a driving force behind the team. The rowers enjoyed a special post-practice celebration with the dedication of their newest rowing shell, which they named after Indiana Associate Athletic Director Janet Kittell. Kittell, who was in Clemson to cheer on the Hoosiers, was surprised with the honor, one of the biggest in the world of rowing.
