Hoosiers Travel to Southern Intercollegiate Rowing Association Championships This Weekend

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Indiana Rowing team will travel to Oak Ridge, Tenn., to compete in the Southern Intercollegiate Rowing Association Championship Regatta on April 18-19.
The Hoosiers will compete in four 2,000-meter pieces on Saturday, with the Varsity 4 opening the day in the second of four heats. IU will race against Florida State, Nova Southeastern, Tulsa and Kansas State at 9:57 a.m. ET. Indiana's Novice 8 will compete in the second of two semifinals at 2:09 p.m., and will race against Tulsa, Kansas, No. 17 Louisville, Oklahoma and West Virginia. The Second Novice 8 will compete against Kansas State, Florida, Purdue and Louisville at 2:51 p.m., and IU's Varsity 8 crew will face West Virginia, SMU, Grand Valley State, Louisville and Tulsa in the first of two opens races at 5:25 p.m.
Last weekend, the Hoosiers competed against No. 8 Ohio State and No. 20 Minnesota in Columbus, Ohio, as the Second Novice 8 swept both the Buckeyes and Gophers, and the Second Varsity 8 crew defeated Minnesota on the Scioto River.
Following competition this weekend, the Hoosiers will head back to Columbus on May 2 for the 2009 Big Ten Rowing Championships at Griggs Reservoir.
