FT. LAUDERDALE, Fla. - Indiana University senior Christina Loukas continues to add national titles to her growing list of honors with a victory Wednesday night in the one-meter springboard at the Speedo USA Diving Spring National Championships at the Fort Lauderdale Aquatic Complex. It is Loukas' third USA Diving National title in the last three years after winning the one-meter crown at the 2007 and 2008 summer nationals.
Loukas scored 303.30 points in her win on Wednesday, highlighted by a 70.20-point effort on her reverse 1 ½ with 1 ½ twists in the fifth round. In February, she was selected to represent the U.S. on one meter at the FINA World Championships in Rome this summer.
"I'm definitely happy. I hit all of my dives really well," Loukas told USA Diving. "I'm really happy I was finally able to do everything right on (the reverse twister)."
Loukas won her first NCAA title last month with a record-setting performance on the three-meter springboard. She will compete in that event later in the week, as well as attempt to qualify for the FINA World Championships in the synchronized springboard events with partner Amanda Miller.
Hoosier junior Brittney Feldman placed fourth on the one meter with a tally of 278.90, while freshman Gabby Agostino was seventh (263.25), and Christina Kouklakis 16th (225.65).
