COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Indiana baseball team will take on top-seeded and 27th-ranked Ohio State on Friday night at 7:05 p.m. at Huntington Park. Freshman lefty Blake Monar will take the mound for Indiana against Ohio State's Dean Wolosiansky. Fans can watch the game on the Big Ten Network or listen to Matt Brady and Jeremy Gray on WHCC 105.1 FM in the Bloomington area or worldwide on XM/Sirius Channel 196.
IU will look to avenge a loss to the Buckeyes during the Hoosiers' Spring Trip. OSU took a 2-0 victory in a tremendous pitcher's duel between Buckeye ace Alex Wimmers and Monar. In that game, the Rockport, Ind., native surrendered just four hits and two walks in seven innings, with only one of the two runs being earned.
The Hoosiers advanced to the tourney semifinals with victories over Purdue (9-1) and Minnesota (12-3). In addition to strong hitting (.393 average, 13 doubles) IU got a pair of brilliant pitching performances by its top two pitchers, Eric Arnett and Matt Bashore. Arnett allowed just four hits and struck out 10 in seven shutout innings, while Bashore gave up just two hits and punched out nine in his seven scoreless innings of work.
