Loukas Advances to 3M Final at FINA World Championships

ROME, Italy - Indiana's Christina Loukas will compete in the final of the women's three-meter springboard on Tuesday at the 2009 FINA World Championships in Rome, Italy.
Loukas finished fifth with 318.30 points in Monday evening's semifinals after placing fourth in the morning prelims. Jingjing Guo of China is in the lead entering the finals.
"I am really happy," Loukas told USA Diving. "I did what I needed to do to get in the finals, but I knw I can do better on every single one of my dives. I wanted to save it for the finals."
On Sunday, Loukas led the USA contingent with an eighth-place finish in the women's one-meter springboard competition with 288.35 points. Loukas was seventh in the prelims with 284.40 points. Russia's Julia Pakhalina took home the gold medal with a score of 325.05.
In addition to Loukas, the Hoosiers are also represented by head diving coach Dr. Jeff Huber, who is serving as an assistant coach with USA Diving.
