BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The No. 14 Indiana University wrestling team (13-2, 2-2) came up short Sunday afternoon, dropping a 22-13 dual match to No. 4 Ohio State (14-1, 3-0). Indiana won four bouts on the day.
Angel Escobedo and Nate Everhart each kept their flawless records intact. The 125-pound Escobedo improved to 26-0 with a 15-5 major decision over #18 Nikko Triggas, his fifth defeat of a nationally-ranked opponent this season. Eighteen of Escobedo's victories have results in bonus points.
Everhart, meanwhile, now sits at 28-0 following a 2-0 decision over Corey Morrison. Everhart sealed the deal by riding out Morrison for the entire third period, earning a 1:54 riding time advantage and two-point triumph.
Kurt Kinser and Matt Powless were also victorious against the Buckeyes. Kinser dug himself out of an early hole for the 8-5 decision. Sean Nemec took him down twice and owned a 4-2 lead before Kinser scored six of the final seven points of the contest.
Powless continued his recent hot streak; a stretch that has saw him win six of seven matches. The Newburgh, Ind., native opened the weekend by topping #9 Patrick Bond of Illinois on Friday. He then came back Sunday and blanked Cody Magrum, 4-0.
