TUCSON, Ariz. - The Indiana women's golf team is currently sitting in seventh place after two rounds of the Mountain View Invitational at the Mountain View Golf Club in Tucson, Ariz.
"Our play was pretty solid," head coach Clint Wallman said. "We need to clean up some things around greens but given conditions with the amount of wind we had, I thought they played hard and we are in a good position to move up the leaderboard tomorrow."
Indiana posted identical rounds of 303 to post a tally of 606, 11 strokes off the lead. Texas Tech currently sit in the top spot at 595, followed by BYU (596) and UNLV (597).
Senior Kellye Belcher leads the way for the Hoosiers after posting rounds of 75 and 71 for a total of 146. Belcher's round of 71 is her third under-par round this season and tied for her second lowest of the year.
Senior Laura Nochta and freshman Pamela Burneski both have scores of 153 after identical scores of 75 in the first round and 78 in round two. Freshman Jacqueline Yanch is a stroke behind Nochta and Burneski at 154, carding a 78 in round one and a 76 in round two. The 76 is her lowest round since the opening round of the Lady Puerto Rico Classic where she also posted a 76.
Rounding out the group, junior Lauren Giesecke sits with a 168 with an 85 in round one and an 83 in round two.
The teams will conclude play tomorrow with a 7:30 a.m. PDT shotgun start.
