"We came up short against very high caliber crews," said IU head coach Steve Peterson. "The big thing that I was happy with, especially with the varsity, they came into the first race very emotional and never really got settled, but in the afternoon against Michigan, they definitely rowed their race. We have some work to do, but we know we can race with these kinds of teams."
The Hoosiers return to action on April 17-18, when they race in the Southern Intercollegiate Rowing Association Championships in Oak Ridge, Tenn. After a weekend off, IU will travel to East Lansing, Mich., to compete in the Big Ten Championships on Lake Ovid.
"Today's races will give us some confidence heading into next weekend's races," Peterson added. "However, I think these races will have a big impact on the Big Ten Championships in East Lansing. I think we learned a lot racing some of the fastest schools in the Big Ten and that will help heading into that weekend."
