IU Rowing Adds Eight to 2010 Signing Class

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - With the start of the 2010-11 rowing season quickly approaching, the team is welcoming eight new recruits to the Indiana Rowing program.
"We are extremely excited about this group of recruits," head coach Steve Peterson said. "This is the most experienced class of recruits we have ever welcomed to Bloomington and we expect them to have an immediate impact on our program. All of them are exceptional individuals as well as athletes."
The newest members of the Hoosier Rowing family include:
Gracie Barbara, a freshman from Alexandria, Va., where she rowed for TC Williams High School.
Catherine Campbell, a graduate student from Dallas, Texas, who rowed for SMU and during the past two summers she rowed with the US National Team Development camp.
Megan Duffy, a freshman coxswain from Los Gatos, Calif., where she coxed for the Los Gatos Rowing Club.
Karlijn Keijzer, a graduate student from Amsterdam, where she rowed for De Amstel RZV. In 2007 she raced at the Junior Worlds in Beijing finishing fifth in the junior women's 8 for the Netherlands.
Meghan Kennedy, a freshman coxswain from Ann Arbor, Mich., where she coxed for the Pioneer Rowing Club.
Elisabeth Kleipool, a junior transfer also from Amsterdam, where she rowed with Keijzer for De Amstel RZV and also raced at the 2007 Junior Worlds finishing fifth in the 8.
Gayle Lewallen, a freshman coxswain from Phoenix, Ariz.
Asja Zero, a freshman from Croatia, who just competed at the Junior Worlds in the Czech Republic and the Youth Olympic Games in Singapore during the summer of 2010, finishing 13th in the 2x and eighth in the 1x, respectively, as well as finishing 12th last year in the 4x at the Junior Worlds in France.
