Hoosiers Wrap Up Competition at USA Swimming Nationals

IRVINE, Calif. - Recent graduate Aaron Opell's victory in the bonus final of the 200-meter breaststroke highlighted the final day of the 2010 ConocoPhillips USA Swimming National Championships in Irvine, Calif.
Opell was the only swimmer with Hoosier ties to make it to the evening session, winning the bonus final and finishing 17th overall with a time of 2:15.08. Opell went 2:17.38 in the morning prelims, while All-American Kevin Swander finished his prelim swim in a time of 2:17.53.
In the morning prelims, junior Brittany Strumbel recorded a time of 57.02 in the 100-meter freestyle (37th), while sophomore Taylor Wohrley came in at 58.51 (95th). In the men's 200-meter backstroke it was IU All-American Ben Hesen touching the wall in 2:08.75 (83rd).
Junior Allysa Vavra competed in the prelims of the 200-meter breaststroke where she took 42nd in 2:35.89.
