Volleyball Hosts IU adidas Classic This Weekend

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Indiana University volleyball team (3-0) opens the 2010 home schedule this weekend, welcoming in Arkansas Staten (2-1), Illinois State (3-0) and North Carolina State (3-0) for the IU adidas Classic. Friday night's 7 p.m. match versus Arkansas State is 'Camper Reunion Night,' allowing all IU Summer Camp attendees in the eighth grade or younger free admission by simply wearing their IU Summer Camp shirts.
It will be round-robin competition with two matches scheduled for Friday and four on Saturday. The complete weekend schedule is as follows:
Friday, 5 pm- Illinois State vs. North Carolina State
Friday, 7 pm- Indiana vs. Arkansas State
Saturday, 10 am- Arkansas State vs. North Carolina State
Saturday, Noon- Indiana vs. Illinois State
Saturday, 5:30 pm- Arkansas State vs. Illinois State
Saturday, 7:30 pm- Indiana vs. North Carolina State
SCOUTING THE COMPETITION
The opposition went a combined 8-1 in the opening weekend, assuredly bringing a high level of confidence to Bloomington.
First up for IU are the RedWolves of Arkansas State. Indiana has won the only two meetings with A-State, picking up a pair of sweeps. Illinois State owns a 9-1 advantage in the all-time series. The most recent meeting occured back in 1989, however, and the Hoosiers came out on top, 3-0. Saturday night will be the first meeting ever between the IU and NC State volleyball programs.
