SETTING THE SCENE
• The Hoosiers are looking for their fourth-straight top-10 finish as they send 13 swimmers and two divers to the NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships, March 17-19 and the Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center in Austin, Texas.

NEWS AND NOTES
• Indiana is bringing five freshmen and three sophomores as part of its 15-person swimming and diving contingent.
• On the flip side, Gabby Agostino, Brittany Barwegen, Margaux Farrell, Brittany Strumbel and Nikki White are making their third NCAA Championship appearance.
• Senior Ashley Jones is a four-time NCAA Championship participant.
HOOSIERS WIN THIRD STRAIGHT BIG TEN TITLE
• The Hoosiers won their third-straight Big Ten title behind an 821-point performance, 243 points ahead of runner-up Minnesota.
• The Hoosiers won four individual and one relay title but used their team depth to secure the win. Indiana posted 40 top-eight finishes, including a 2-3-6-7-8 run in the 200 freestyle.
• Junior Allysa Vavra had an outstanding meet, winning the 200 IM, 400 IM and finishing third in the 200 breaststroke. Vavra set a Big Ten record in the 400 IM (4:04.59) and school records in the 200 IM (1:57.01) and 200 breaststroke (2:07.71).
• The Hoosiers set a new Big Ten meet and school record in the 800 free relay, clocking an NCAA automatic qualifying time of 7:01.13.
• Junior Brittany Strumbel led off the 800 free relay by setting a Big Ten record in the 200 free with a time of 1:43.93.
• Strumbel was also second in the 500 free with a career-best time of 4:39.14 and went a career-best 48.88 in the 100 free to finish fourth.
• Senior Brittany Barwegen won her first Big Ten title by taking the 200 butterfly in a time of 1:56.28.
• Freshman Laura Ryan made it two in a row for the Hoosiers in platform diving, winning with a score of 348.55.
• Sophomore Amy Cozad set the platform Big Ten meet record in the consolation final with a tally of 371.50.
• Junior Margaux Farrell set a new IU record in the 100 free with her time of 48.76, finishing third.
• Sophomore Taylor Wohrley had a pair of second-place finishes in the 100 back and 200 back, posting career bests in both events including an A time of 52.28.
IU 12th IN FINAL DUAL MEET POLL
• Coming off its third-straight Big Ten title, the Indiana women's swimming and diving team finished No. 12 in the final TYR/CSCAA Dual Meet Rankings.
• The Hoosiers were the highest-ranked Big Ten team, with Minnesota (14), Ohio State (15), Michigan (16), Wisconsin (17), Penn State (21) and Purdue (22) also among the top 25.
INDIANA AT THE NCAA MEET
• The Hoosiers have produced four NCAA champions, two of whom have come in the last two NCAA meets.
• Kimiko Hirai was the first female NCAA Champion for IU, winning the 1-meter springboard at the 1996 NCAA Championships.
• Cassandra Cardinell won the NCAA platform title in 2005.
• Christina Loukas continued IU's strong diving tradition with an NCAA Championship title in the 3-meter springboard in 2009.
• In 2010, Kate Fesenko became the first NCAA Champion in a swimming event for IU, winning the 200 backstroke.
DIVING WINS NATIONAL TITLES
• With a strong team performance, the Indiana University diving team came home with the women's team and combined collegiate titles at the USA Diving Winter National Championships in Iowa City, Iowa in February.
• In addition, former Hoosier Christina Loukas won her ninth USA Diving national championship when she finished tied for first (339.60) in the women's 3-meter competition.
• Also on the final day of competition, freshman Laura Ryan and sophomore Amy Cozad teamed up for a bronze medal in the synchronized platform competition, finishing with 262.41 points.
• In the women's 3-meter synchronized finals, Loukas teamed up with Abby Johnston for a second-place finish (308.10). Ryan and incoming freshman Kathryn Connolly took third after tallying 283.50 points.
JONES, WOHRLEY NAMED TO WORLD UNIVERSITY GAMES TEAM
• Indiana University senior Ashley Jones and sophomore Taylor Wohrley have been selected to represent the United States at the 2011 World University Games, Aug. 14-19 in Shenzhen, China.
• Known internationally as the Summer Universiade, the multi-sport event takes place every two years and is considered the second largest international competition behind the Olympic Games.
• Jones will compete in the 200 backstroke.
• Wohrley, selected for the 100 backstroke, finished second in both the 100 back and 200 back at the 2011 Big Ten Championships.
