500 Freestyle
Junior Margaux Farrell posted a career-best time of 4:43.37 to win her prelim heat and finish 28th. Freshman Lindsay Vrooman also posted a career time in her heat, clocking a 4:42.75 for a finish of 26th. In one of the fastest heats of the morning, junior Nikki White finished fifth with a time of 4:40.79, placing her 18th overall, just out of the scoring heats. In the final heat of the day, Brittany Strumbel clocked a 4:39.94, just off her career best of 4:39.14 set at the Big Ten Championships. That time put her in the consolation final. Strumbel swam in the same heat as Georgia's Allison Schmitt, who set a new NCAA record with a time of 4:32.71.
200 Individual Medley
Swimming in the same heat, junior Allysa Vavra finished fourth with a time of 1:58.20, placing her 14th overall and earning her a spot in tonight's consolation final. Right next to her was senior Ashley Jones who placed eighth in 1:59.97, 34th overall.
50 Freestyle
Freshman Sara Delay was Indiana's lone representative in the 50 freestyle, placing third in her heat with a time of 22.86, just 3/100ths of a second off her career best. She placed 44th overall in the event.
400 Medley Relay
Indiana finished 15th in the 400 medley relay with a time of 3:36.29. Sophomore Taylor Wohrley led off with a 53.27 backstroke split, with freshman Bronwyn Pasloski swimming breaststroke, freshman Brenna MacLean on butterfly and Farrell anchoring in the freestyle. The quartet will come back and swim the consolation final tonight.
