IU Rowing Heads to Indiana Invitational at Eagle Creek Sunday

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Indiana rowing team will battle Eastern Michigan, Notre Dame and Purdue in the Indiana Invitational at Eagle Creek Park in Indianapolis on Sunday, March 27.
The Hoosiers are coming off their season-opening trip to Clemson, S.C, where IU saw its First Varsity 8, Second Varsity 8 and top Novice crew battle No. 15 Clemson, Alabama, Boston University, Marist, Purdue and Syracuse last Saturday. IU's First Varsity 8 crew got off to a great start to the season, finishing just behind Clemson (6:39.85) with a time of 6:45.17, beating out Alabama (6:52.05), Boston (6:52.67), Syracuse (6:55.99), Purdue (7:08.25) and Marist (7:25.35). The Second Varsity 8 crew also opened the season strong finishing just behind Clemson (6:44.49) with a time of 6:52.28. The Hoosiers beat out Alabama by more than four seconds (6:56.98). Syracuse finished in 7:00.86, followed by Boston (7:05.35), Purdue (7:16.22) and Marist (7:26.27).
IU raced two Novice crews with its `A' crew finishing just a couple seconds from Clemson (7:09.21) in 7:11.70. The Hoosiers' `B' crew finished in 7:39.02, seven seconds behind Alabama (7:32.02), beating Purdue (7:57.57) and Marist (8:57.18).
Following this weekend's invitational, the Hoosiers will host the third annual Dale England Cup at Lake Lemon in Bloomington on April 1-2. IU will play host to Boston University, Gonzaga and Michigan State.
