IU Rowing Heads to Double Dual at Ohio State

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Indiana rowing team will take on Bucknell, Iowa, Louisville, No. 9 Ohio State and Rhode Island in a series of 2,000-meter pieces on the Scioto River at the Griggs Reservoir in Columbus, Ohio on April 9. Saturday's morning session will begin at 9 a.m. ET, with the afternoon session getting underway at 1 p.m.
Heading into this weekend's racing, Indiana received 12 votes in this week's CRCA/USRowing Coaches Poll. The Hoosiers are coming off a successful weekend where they finished second in the Dale England Cup standings with 100 points, sweeping Boston and Gonzaga in every race, before finishing second to Michigan State.
IU's First Varsity 8, made up of Alex Burkle (coxswain), Shifumi Terasaka, Asja Zero, Karlijn Keijzer, Elisabeth Kleipool, Rachel Anderson, Cara Donley, Kathryn Laine, Jaclyn Riedel, swept Boston University and Gonzaga and just missed upsetting Michigan State by four seconds to help Indiana finish second at the Dale England Cup on April 1-2. On the first day, the Hoosiers finished more than 11 seconds ahead of Gonzaga (6:50.6) in 6:39.0. On day two, IU won with an eight second lead on Boston University (6:45.1) in 6:37.1. In the final race of the day, the Hoosiers just missed the Spartans (6:22.2) by four seconds with a time of 6:26.3.
Following the Double Dual this weekend, IU will travel to Ann Arbor, Mich., to take on Oklahoma, Buffalo and Grand Valley on Saturday, April 16.
