BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Indiana Rowing team will head east for the Princeton Chase on Sunday, Oct. 28, on Lake Carnegie in Princeton, N.J.
IU's crew, which is made up of Karly Kikkert (coxswain), Kathryn Laine, Kim Gilmour, Anne Thompson, Madelyn Shields, Madison Tresser, Asja Zero, Claire Robinson and Meradith Dickensheets, will compete in a 3-mile head race in the women's Varsity 8+ Open at 11 a.m. ET.
The Hoosiers have been successful the last two years, finishing eighth in the last two Princeton Chase regattas. In 2011, Indiana beat out 41 crews to place among the top-10 with a time of 15:28.62, topping Brown - the 2010 National Champion.
"The competition is great," said head coach Steve Peterson on the race. "I think it's a great race, just because it's early in the year and we'll be seeing the best in the country, especially from the East Coast, which we don't always see. It's a great gauge of our speed early on and hopefully we can match what we have done and improve upon past results."
