BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Indiana Rowing team finished 16th among a field of 55 at the 2012 Princeton Chase on Lake Carnegie in Princeton, N.J., on Sunday, Oct. 28.
The Hoosiers' crew, made up of Karly Kikkert, Kathryn Laine, Kim Gilmour, Ann Thompson, Madelyn Shields, Madison Treser, Asja Zero, Claire Robinson and Meradith Dickensheets, finished in 14:40.205 in the 3-mile head race, beating out Michigan State (14:40.863). IU also bested Princeton (18th, 14:44.076), Rhode Island (19th, 14:47.016) and Brown (14:51.208) to round out the top-20.
"The goal was to finish in the top ten and improve on last year's time, so we're a little disappointed with our finish," said head coach Steve Peterson. "However a big part was being aggressive out of the start, which we were but I think we paid the price in the second half. We didn't hold it together well. It just wasn't the result we wanted and we'll work on those pieces of our racing as we prepare for Ohio State, Michigan State and Notre Dame."
Indiana will close out the fall slate with a scrimmage against Ohio State, Michigan State and Notre Dame in Columbus, Ohio, on Nov. 10.
