IU Wraps Up Competition at AT&T Winter Nationals

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Led by five top-five finishes, the Indiana men's and women's swimming teams wrapped up competition at the AT&T Winter Nationals at the Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center in Austin, Texas Saturday night.

Vrooman led the way for the Hoosiers with a third-place finish in the 1,650-yard freestyle, clocking in with an NCAA B cut of 15:56.81. Taylor O'Brien was 11th (16:28.58/NCAA B cut).

In the 200 backstroke, the Hoosiers had a pair of fourth-place finishers in Brooklyn Snodgrass (1:53.97/NCAA B cut) and Eric Ress (1:42.72/NCAA B cut).

Brenna MacLean took fourth in the 200 butterfly with a provisional time of 1:58.14, followed by Haley Lips in ninth (1:57.45/NCAA B cut). Cody Miller tallied a fifth-place finish in the 200 breaststroke (1:54.89/NCAA B cut).

At the Ohio State Invitational in Columbus, Ryan Hinshaw finished 13th in the 200 freestyle (1:38.51), while Ian Boggs was 13th in the 100 breaststroke (56.79).

In the diving well, Emad Abdelatif and Casey Johnson made the final of the men's 3-meter springboard, with Abdelatif seventh (334.70) and Johnson eighth (322.75). In the women's 1-meter competition, Kate Hillman was third (281.50) and Cassidy Kahn fifth (279.15).

The OSU Invitational concludes Sunday.
