No. 15 Indiana Sprints Past Notre Dame College, 16-7

SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio - The No. 15 Indiana Hoosiers women's water polo team (22-7, 3-1 CWPA West) jumped out to a six-goal first quarter lead against Notre Dame College and never looked back, claiming the 16-7 victory to notch their second CWPA Western Division win of the day.
The Hoosiers received scoring efforts from ten players for the second consecutive game, led by sophomore Shae Fournier's hat trick. Fournier increased her season total to 76 goals to move into a tie for third with Brooke Zimmerman on the IU single-season scoring list.
Summer Creighton, Alexis Jones, Kym King, and Amanda Redfern each posted two goals in the win. Nina Escobedo, Meghan Lappan, Colleen McNaught, Alynn Reade, and Shelby Taylor had one goal apiece.
Senior goalkeeper Cassie Wyckoff made her 27th start of the season and grabbed three saves and two steals in 16 minutes. Freshman Jojo White came on in the second half to register three saves and a steal.
The Hoosiers opened the contest with a mixture of offensive firepower and steady defense, outscoring the Falcons 6-0 in the first quarter.
McNaught scored the first Hoosier goal 23 seconds into the action, followed by a goal by Redfern one minute later. Fournier extended the IU lead to four with two straight goals during the middle portion of the period. Creighton and King notched the fifth and sixth scores for the Hoosiers.
Reade gave the Hoosiers a seven-goal lead early in the second quarter until the Falcons got on the board at the 5:47 mark.
King and Fournier came up with goals late in the second period to give IU a comfortable 9-1 advantage. The Falcons responded with a score from the perimeter to cut the deficit to seven at the half.
NDC opened the second half with a goal at the 6:55 mark to briefly pull within six.
The Cream and Crimson responded with a five-goal run to go ahead 14-3 at the end of the third. Lappan and Taylor notched goals early in the quarter, followed by scores from Creighton, Redfern, and Jones to cap the run.
The Falcons posted four goals in the fourth quarter, while the Hoosiers recorded goals from Escobedo and Jones to earn the 16-7 win.
Indiana will finish the weekend with a 12:00 p.m. matchup on Sunday with Gannon.
